Great Cynics have released a new video for 'Only In Memories', the first single from their new album POSI. Blending Replacements-inspired punk rock and roll with modern British experience, 'Only In Memories' is yet another banger that you won't have trouble relating to. It's Great Cynics with a new lineup and an even bigger sound, but the band's core of steadfast, catchy indie-punk songs remains.
One of many odes to the city of London in the Great Cynics catalog, the nostalgia-tinged 'Only In Memories' may well be their best. That's hard to judge, however, because Great Cynics are one of the best and most consistent bands in British punk rock. They rarely, if ever, put a foot wrong and this new single is no different. The change in lineup (with Oliver Ward taking over bass duties from Iona Cairns) and the addition of Gillie Rowland on keys is exciting too and makes me want to hear the new record even more.
POSI is out on March 24th via Specialist Subject Records and I for one am really excited about what's to come. Check out the brilliant video for 'Only In Memories' below featuring my new favourite fictional host Dave Davidson Davidson.
Great Cynics are playing on December 17th at the Montague Arms in Peckham and have also recently been added to Manchester Punk Festival in April. Expect to hear more tour news soon.
